Release overview — October 2025
The Curiosity Team
October was a month of search you can rely on: filters that behave, access that follows nested groups, and a Curiosity Workspace that stays responsive under heavy load. Here are the highlights from four weekly releases.
Open local files with Local Link
The new, optional Local Link integration opens a file in its native application, or reveals a file or folder in your operating system's file browser, straight from search results. Once an administrator enables it, the workspace hands signed links to a small companion app for macOS and Windows.
Filters that behave
- Lock and clear facets now sit in the facets bar, next to the filters they act on.
- Saved filters apply correctly, pinning is consistent, and loading a saved set of facets replaces the active selection instead of stacking on top of it.
- Filters stay visible when a search returns nothing, so you can adjust them instead of being left with an empty screen.
- Queries with stopwords return more accurate results, with matched terms highlighted even when a stopword sits between them.
Access that follows your groups
- Nested access groups are honored: a member of a group that belongs to another group now receives the inherited access.
- Results that reference other people return only name, username and email, not the full user record.
- Uploads to a space, user or access group use scoped storage paths, so files with the same name no longer overwrite each other.
For administrators
- Compare workspace definitions before importing: a side-by-side diff shows which indexes, endpoints, code tasks and NLP models a backup would add, remove or modify.
- External blob storage is checked at startup for connectivity and bucket permissions, so a misconfiguration surfaces immediately.
- A new metric counts the users active in the last minute.
- Changing extraction settings warns that existing files only reflect them once the file content index is rebuilt.
Steadier under load
The workspace now watches for approaching high-memory situations and pauses indexing and trims caches to stay responsive. Large workspaces load from disk faster on server deployments, large query results stream instead of sitting in memory, and versioned front-end assets are cached for longer.
The little things
- OneNote ingestion keeps the section-group hierarchy and removes notebooks deleted at the source.
- People and group pickers no longer clutter your search history.
- The video player hides its download options when downloads are disabled.
- The keyboard search box shortcut can be turned off.
