We all use ChatGPT to be more efficient in our work, but Curiosity takes that efficiency to the next level by integrating directly with all your apps and files.

In this post, I’ll share four ways I use Curiosity’s AI Assistant in my daily work, with the hope that it will help you be more productive as well.

  1. Quick-access shortcut
  2. Talk-to-your-files (“Ask AI Assistant”)
  3. Summarise news articles
  4. Custom AI Assistants
  5. Coming Soon: Talk-to-Sources

Let’s dive right in! 👇

1. Quick-Access Shortcut

Accessing the AI Assistant via the Curiosity Command Bar is a simple but effective trick that I use all the time. With a keyboard shortcut, I can call up an AI Assistant without having to switch contexts:

  • Quick Answers: I often ask questions to get instant information or clarification, like “What does X mean?” It works as a faster alternative to basic web searches… and yes, of course, I double-check critical information. 😉
  • Translations: Since I work with both German and English, I use it when I can’t remember a word or don’t feel like translating an entire paragraph.
  • Prettifying Text: I love using the AI Assistant to ensure my emails sound more positive or more professional.

2. Talk-to-your-files (“Ask AI Assistant”)

Curiosity’s Ask AI Assistant feature is where the integration of the AI Assistant with your apps and files starts to really shine.

I use it to interact with my files simply by asking questions and receiving direct answers instead of having to comb through the entire document myself.

For instance, when dealing with a complex document like a contract, I can quickly get an overview or extract specific information, such as “What are the cancellation terms?” Importantly, Curiosity also provides clickable references to the document, allowing me to easily verify the information.

3. Summarise News Articles

I use Curiosity to follow tech news via RSS feeds, mainly from ArsTechnica and The Verge.

When I see a headline that looks interesting but I don’t have the time (or patience) to read the whole article, I can right-click on it and choose “Summarize with AI” to get a brief rundown with the help of the AI Assistant in Curiosity.

That lets me quickly decide if I want to delve into the full article or just ask more questions about it in the chat.

4. Custom AI Assistants

The most recent version of Curiosity has a feature that I’ve been finding particularly useful: the ability to create Custom AI Assistants for specific tasks. This lets me tweak the AI to write exactly the way I need, without having to type out a lengthy prompt every time.

For instance, I’ve set up an Assistant to help me write release messages. That means I can simply input a quick description of the feature, and the AI generates friendly, professional release notes. Another custom Assistant helps me turn ideas into a first draft for blog posts, including this one.

5. Coming Soon: Talk-to-Sources

The last feature I want to mention is still under development, but it’s one I’m eagerly anticipating: Talk-to-Sources. Set to be released in an upcoming version, this feature will expand on the “talk to files” feature.

Talk-to-Sources will allow us to ask questions about an entire folder or Space, not just individual files. Imagine the convenience of having all the information for a project in one place and being able to chat with the AI for insights.

I’m excited about the prospects of interacting with a whole folder of information through simple conversation!

Wrapping up

And there you have it — my top four (plus one upcoming) features of Curiosity’s AI Assistant that help me stay productive. Whether it’s sprucing up communications, swiftly navigating complex documents, staying on top of the news, or customizing an AI Assistant for specific needs, Curiosity is an invaluable part of my daily toolkit.

I hope these insights inspire you to explore how Curiosity can help streamline your workflow, too. Download the app to try it for free today, and stay tuned for more updates, especially on the promising Talk-to-Sources feature!
